Sunday School in Review – During this Sunday Morning our Church was honored to have Terri Maclay, a representative for CURE Internation www.helpcurenow.org a local organization in Lemoyne PA. She spoke on their program Village of Protection a place where Massai women can find safety and protection in Narok, Kenya. This inspirational and hands on “show and tell” event was arrange for our combined adult Sunday School Program in Summer 2008. My wife Susanna asked to introduce her friend of many years and talked of their joint love of gardening along with the tragic lose of Terri’s husband who died of cancer a few years back. Gene and Terri had planned their retirement years together when he was taken from us; after which Terri found a Mission in Africa to participate in, to give her love and time to, God works in mysterious ways. If you are inclined to support this program donations will be accepted at CURE note on your check that the money is to support the “Village of Protection” program in Africa.

Sermon in Review – “Why Forgive” Pastor Minnix talked about Forgiveness as the center of Jesus teachings and the Grandest Grace God grants us. He talked about being in a supportive role in life for others, serving them and helping them as needs arise. He talked of the movie a “Wonderful Life” in which the lead actor George is told by a Guardian Angel of all the ways he helped others and changed their lives for the better. This convinces him not to commit suicide for without George all these people would not have been helped or his children would not have been born. Each person supports the fabric of life and each person is a piece in others live’s if they were removed all would be affected. Each moment of life, each heart touched and each good work performed helps support God’s intentions and service. In the Book The Greatest Generation the story of each soldier, sailor or airmen told showed they performed a supportive role to right a terrible wrong and win World War II. The writers of the book interviewed many who were in the war and the single thread that rang through was the tone that they had pride for the job they did not have regrets about losses during the war, or conditions or injuries endured. They had pride in the service and support they provided to their country and the world. In the book of Genensis, Joseph’s brothers sell him into slavery to Egypt, Joseph is instructed to go to the fields by his father and find the flocks and his brothers but cannot find them at their usual place along the way he meets a man. The man tells him that his brothers moved the flock to another town. When Joseph finds them, his brothers sell him to a passing caravan headed for Egypt. After being in a Jail in Egypt Joseph then wins the support of Pharoh, because he can interrupt a dream the Pharoh is having. Joseph builds a stockpile of food for the years of Famine to come during which his brothers and father come to Eqypt and are saved by Joseph and with the food he has stored for Egypt. But, Joseph would never have found his brothers in the field if it were not for the man in the field who sent him to find his brothers who had moved the flock. Without the man, Joseph may not have been sold into slavery, and later saved his family and Egypt from Famine and the other events that later happened to the Israelites in Egypt may never have occurred. Who was this supporting man mentioned in Genesis? We may never know but know this every life touches every other life each action is a ripple in lifes water and we can we can choose to support and service others and extend God’s grace. We as a community can change the world one action at a time, that action is Forgiveness, we can change the world each time we forgive. Each time we forgive we change the world because we change the way others percieve what happened and this forgiveness affects their life. This forgiveness is passed forward as they forgive…the ripples continue and multiply. Think of ways to forgive and how you can affect those arround you to show them God’s Grace. Forgiveness is the greatest gift in life; be God’s supportive cast in life, to show others the way to him.
