Matt Miller of Hummelstown joined the First Church staff as a Custodian in October 2013. Matt’s face may not be as familiar to our members because he primarily works in the evenings, but each person who visits First Church can appreciate his hard work. Matt helps to keep our building clean and in top shape, which is no small task considering that First Church hosts hundreds or more people in any given week for worship, fellowship, meetings and other events and activities.
“I was having a rough time searching for a job despite looking everywhere I could,” Matt said. “Luckily I was able to get the job at First Church, and I thank God for the opportunity to serve here.”
Matt additionally works as a pet caretaker for a family in Hummelstown. He regularly walks, feeds and entertains two dogs and a cat.
Previously, Matt worked summer and temporary job assignments at Pizza Hut, Macy’s department store and HealthAmerica.
Matt is a lifelong Christian. Growing up, he attended the St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey. Matt later joined the Hershey Free Church.
Matt once spent a summer volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. He helped with two projects in nearby Harrisburg, performing small construction jobs at one house and unloading truckloads of supplies for the other.
Matt is a graduate of Lower Dauphin High School.
