First Church welcomes knitters, crocheters and crafters of all types for the new Knit@Nite fellowship group. The group meets on the third Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the newly renovated Tower Meeting Room (former Children’s Library), Room 216D. Harrisburg Food Truck Feasts will roll into the First Church parking lot on Friday, Oct. 20 for the last time this year. The trucks will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. An expected six to eight trucks will be pulling into the church parking lot to sell everything from Greek food to chicken tenders and tacos. In addition to good food, the event offers a fun time to meet and socialize with other community members.
The First Church Bell Choirs will host a chicken barbecue fund raiser on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Each meal includes a ½ chicken, baked potato, applesauce and roll for $9. Drinks and desserts will be sold separately. Proceeds benefit trips the Bell Choirs take to workshops and festivals.

First Church will observe the annual Children’s Sabbath on Sunday, Oct. 22 during the 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. worship services. This year’s theme is, “Moving Forward With Hope.” The United Methodist Church designates a Children’s Sabbath each October. The national observance encourages congregations to renew and live out their moral responsibility to care, protect and advocate for all children. All are welcome to attend!
First Church will hold a Rejoicing Spirits worship service this Sunday, Oct. 22 at 4:00 p.m. All are welcome! The service is specially designed and adapted for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families. An informal atmosphere, brief messages, and lots of music and fellowship opportunities. Rejoicing Spirits services are held on the fourth Sunday of each month.
