Women’s Small Group Study

First Church to Hold Bible Study on “Praying Through the Names of God”

First Church will offer “Praying Through the Names of God,” a weekly Bible study during Lent, in conjunction with a Lenten sermon series of the same title. In the Bible, names revealed something about a person’s character – the circumstances of their birth (Moses means “drawn from the water”); a specific characteristic (Esau means “hairy one”); or a praise to God (Jeremiah means “God is exalted”). Workday at First Church

First Church will hold a Workday on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 8 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help spread mulch and clean up the church’s outdoor property. Spaghetti Dinner

The Bell Choirs of First Church will hold a Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, April 27 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. The meal will include all-you-can-eat spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and homemade dessert. Dine in or get a meal to go. Cost is $9 for adults, and $5 for children ages 4 to 12. Children 3 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance. DisAbility Awareness Sunday

April 28 is DisAbility Awareness Sunday at First Church. Guest speaker Elizabeth Brake, a United Methodist pastor who was born with cerebral palsy, will describe her journey with disability and faith to a joint Sunday School class at 9:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room. All are invited and encouraged to attend. Pastor Brake resides in Mercersburg on her family’s dairy farm.
