Created by God – August 2009
created-by-god-church-brochure-template-09
Adding one more thing to the summer schedule may seem overwhelming, but the Created by God event is something you won’t want your child to miss. As you well know, tweens are growing physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially at a rapid pace, or are agonizing over why they aren’t growing as rapidly as they feel they should be. Created by God is a study of human sexuality with a Christian foundation. It will offer both you and your child an opportunity to learn, grow, and celebrate the fact that we have each been wonderfully created by God, and are called to responsible living as sexual beings.
Leading the study will be James Ritchie, Jr.; Ed. D. Jim was editor and co-writer of the Created by God resources. He regularly leads Created by God events for young adolescents and their parents. He is comfortable with the material and has a gift for creating a safe atmosphere in which young people feel at ease and comfortable asking questions.
Parents are very appreciative when the study is over. Tweens often have a lot of unanswered questions that they are hesitant to ask. By the time they hit seventh grade, they are more concerned with portraying themselves as all knowing than they are in actually learning something and the door to discuss these issues seems closed. Tweens can seem resistant to the idea of participating and may worry about being bored or embarrassed. The study is VERY active, and boredom is seldom an issue. Your child is welcome to invite a friend and their family to participate too. When the study is over you’ll be glad you made it a priority.
Please check out the registration information in the enclosed brochure. If you have questions, please call, Kim Vensel 766-4611 x102 or kidscount@fumchurch.com. If you would like to talk with parents that have participated in Created By God we will gladly connect you.
