Favorite Bible Verse: “This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way that I have loved you.” (John 15:12)

Katie Knorr oversees all First Church programming for families with children up to fifth grade. This includes building relationships by supporting, shepherding, and prayerfully encouraging children and their families in Christian formation through programs and special events.

Katie, a native of Bloomsburg, Pa., is a lifelong church member, but she does not remember the specific moment when she was called to serve. “I think I was about 5 years old in a Sunday School class where it just clicked one day,” she said. “I gave no grand proclamation. I just knew that Jesus loved me, and I loved Him.”

Previously, Katie was the Director of Children’s Ministry at Camp Hill United Methodist Church. Prior to that, Katie worked as a teacher in the Bloomsburg Area School District where she specialized in reading and writing for first and second graders.

Outside of work, Katie is an active community and church volunteer. Since childhood, she has helped numerous congregations by serving food at community gatherings or packing up meals for distribution to those in need. She taught Sunday School and served as Superintendent. As a leader and teacher for summer Vacation Bible School, Katie even created, built, and ran an Escape Room for participants!

Katie also used her talent as the Assistant Director for the Bloomsburg Area School District’s spring musicals. She worked on two productions of Mary Poppins and Into the Woods.

Katie described herself as a “dog Aunt to Bella (a goldendoodle) and Nugget (a Chiweenie aka a Chihuahua Dachshund),” and she loves them like they are her children.
