During the month of May, the pastors of First Church will present a four-part sermon series “The Return,” based on the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15), one of Jesus’ most beloved stories.
This parable is a story about “a father who had two sons” (Luke 15:11). One has strayed far from home, and the father desperately yearns for his return.
“The Prodigal Son” is also your story and mine. When it comes to returning to church and other activities, each of us is at a different place right now. That’s okay. But there is one thing that we all have in common. We all have a Father who loves us, who meets us where we are, and who welcomes us home. The most important return any of us can make is when we respond to God’s gracious invitation and seek to become like God in the way we welcome others.
All are invited and encouraged to attend First Church and enjoy this sermon series! We offer in-person worship at 8:15 and 11 a.m., following all COVID-19 safety protocols. Our services also can be viewed online at fumchurch.com. Find the Daily Bible Reading Plan here.
