Tom Ziegler joined the First Church staff as Facilities Coordinator in January 2017. In this position, Tom oversees the maintenance of our Simpson Street building.

Tom recently retired from PinnacleHealth in Harrisburg, where he worked for 20 years as an HVAC technician. He was responsible for maintaining the heating and air conditioning units for the health care system’s five local hospitals.

Previously, Tom worked as a property manager for several apartment buildings.

Tom is a veteran of the United States Army. He was a specialist 5th class, stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, for three years.

Tom, a native of Dayton, Ohio, is a lifelong Christian. “I was raised in church. My mom and dad always went.” He admits that he drifted from his faith during college and his time in the military, but he felt called to return to church when he and his wife, Kathi, were expecting their first child.

Tom is an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Hampden Township, where he serves as Chairperson of the Misssions Core Team. The team assesses requests and distributes funds to support the church’s missions in central Pennsylvania and abroad.

Tom has participated in the Walk to Emmaus, an experience of Christian spiritual renewal through a three-day short course in Christianity. He also has participated in Chrysalis, a version of the Emmaus Walk for children. Through Emmaus, Tom joined the Kairos prison ministry at the Allenwood Federal Correctional Institution in White Deer, Pa. He interacted with inmates through talk, song and prayer, seeking to bring them to Christ.

Tom is a graduate of Meadowdale High School in Dayton, Ohio. He also attended Ferris State College in Michigan.

Tom and his wife enjoy spending time with their two daughters and three grandchildren.
