After the 10:45 a.m. service, join us in the Fellowship Hall for a barbecue Mission Meal. The meal is free, but donations are accepted to support local ministries.

Rejoicing Spirits

First Church will hold a Rejoicing Spirits worship service at 4:00 p.m. All are welcome! The service is specially designed and adapted for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families. An informal atmosphere, brief messages, and lots of music and fellowship opportunities. Rejoicing Spirits is held on the fourth Sunday of each month.

Men’s Bible Study

Men’s Bible Study: “The Holy Spirit Unleashed in You” This 13-lesson study on the book of Acts, led by First Church members Ken Guise and David Mengle, begins Sunday, Sept. 15 in room 207. Classes begin at 6:15 p.m. and last for 60 to 75 minutes. Workbooks are $9.99. See details and sign up at the Welcome Center display.

Cru Missionaries

All are invited to a special Cru mission presentation on Sunday, December 1 from 9:30 – 10:30 am in the multipurpose room. Hear from our church missionaries serving with Cru, regarding their overseas mission and their work to connect people to Jesus at West Chester, Eastern and Cheyney Universities. Cru (formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ) is an interdenominational Christian parachurch organization for college and university students. Christmas Service of Hope and Remembrance

First Church will hold a Christmas Service of Hope and Remembrance on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. This is a special worship service for those who have lost loved ones or will not be with family this Christmas. All are welcome. Travel to ancient Bethlehem to experience what it was like the night Jesus was born! First Church is pleased to support Isaiah 61 Ministries, a local organization that serves the needs of the homeless in Dauphin County. They provide a variety of services including a soup kitchen, clothing bank and Life groups. First Church welcomes knitters, crocheters and crafters of all types for the Knit@Nite fellowship group. The group meets on the third Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the newly renovated Tower Meeting Room (former Children’s Library), Room 216D. UMW Sewing Day

The United Methodist Women of First Church invites volunteers to help prepare feminine hygiene kits on Saturday, Jan. 18, in the church Fellowship Hall starting at 8:30 a.m. Feminine hygiene kits provide basic necessities to young women in underdeveloped nations, allowing them to continue in school all month long. Wonderful Wednesday

Children ages three through sixth grade and their families are invited to attend the fall session of the Wonderful Wednesday family fellowship program. This unique program, held weekly on Wednesdays, provides Bible study and fun activities for children, and allows families to spend quality time together. The spring session starts January 22 and concludes with the Annual Passion Play on April 8. Isaiah 61 Ministry

First Church is pleased to support Isaiah 61 Ministries, a local organization that serves the needs of the homeless in Dauphin County. They provide a variety of services including a soup kitchen, clothing bank and Life groups. Specifically, First Church members help serve meals to the homeless in downtown Harrisburg on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. A carpool leaves from First Church at 6:00 p.m. for those who are interested. MOPS Meeting

First Church kicks off a new year of MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) on Friday, Sept. 27. All moms of young children are invited to come and connect with our community of women who meet to laugh, support each other and embrace the journey together. MOPS meetings include fellowship time over a light breakfast, valuable teachings, small group discussion and Christian devotions. Rejoicing Spirits

First Church will hold a Rejoicing Spirits worship service at 4:00 p.m. All are welcome! The service is specially designed and adapted for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families. An informal atmosphere, brief messages, and lots of music and fellowship opportunities. Rejoicing Spirits is held on the fourth Sunday of each month.

“Holy Spirit Unleashed in You” Bible Study

First Church is offering “The Holy Spirit Unleashed in You,” a men’s Bible study by Precept Ministries based on the book of Acts. Community Ash Wednesday Service

The Mechanicsburg Cluster of Churches will host a community Ash Wednesday worship service on February 26 at 7 p.m.  First United Methodist Church 135 W. Simpson Street, will be hosting the service. New this year, you will be invited to participate in interactive stations to help prepare you for the beginning of Lent.  All are welcome to attend.
