Wonderful Wednesday

Children ages three through sixth grade and their families are invited to attend the fall session of the Wonderful Wednesday family fellowship program. This unique program, held weekly on Wednesdays, provides Bible study and fun activities for children, and allows families to spend quality time together. First Church will offer “Praying Through the Names of God,” a weekly Bible study during Lent, in conjunction with a Lenten sermon series of the same title. In the Bible, names revealed something about a person’s character – the circumstances of their birth (Moses means “drawn from the water”); a specific characteristic (Esau means “hairy one”); or a praise to God (Jeremiah means “God is exalted”). The handbell choirs of First Church will present “We Love You Lord,” a concert on Sunday, April 7 at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The concert is free and open to the public. Annual Passion Play

Come experience the passion and power of the Easter story. First Church will put on its annual Passion Play on Wednesday, April 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The Passion Play re-enacts the events of Holy Week, beginning with Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and concluding with his crucifixion and resurrection. First Church welcomes knitters, crocheters and crafters of all types for the Knit@Nite fellowship group. First Church will hold a Workday on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 8 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help spread mulch and clean up the church’s outdoor property. The Bell Choirs of First Church will hold a Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, April 27 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. The meal will include all-you-can-eat spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and homemade dessert. The group meets on the third Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the newly renovated Tower Meeting Room (former Children’s Library), Room 216D. The Third Friday Food Trucks return to First Church again on July 19. Join us in the church parking lot from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Confirmed vendors so far include Shredderz, It’s All Greek, Chicken Truck, 717 Tacos, Lucky Penny Burger Co., Sugar Whipped and Kona Ice.
